Hey hey!

Welcome to we are NYP. I am Filza, one of the new bloggers as well. Let me give a short introduction about myself before I blog anything more.

Like Pei Ling, I am in my second year going to my third (in 2 weeks time) doing a diploma in Molecular Biotechnology. Besides doing a course in life science, I am also in NYP NYAA students club and Nanyang Women's Soccer. I'm just a typical nyp-ian who goes for CCA a couple of times per week after classes so some of you might be able to relate to my NYP life.

I don't have many pictures so I've taken this photo from Amirul's flickr account. This is the NYP NYAA student's club executive committee members (the 5 of us with the funny pose) along with Outward Bound Taiwan and Outward Bound Singapore instructors. This was taken last year at Bei He Huan Shan, Taiwan.

Well, I will write more soon.
Till then,
God Bless!
Filza

Howdy!

Halo! I'm Pei Ling, one of the new writers for the blog. I am a 3rd year (almost!) Physiotherapy student in PT0602. =)

Besides my course of study, I have keen interests in healthcare, policy and environmental issues. That would mean I'm quite involved in these aspects as well. Some relatively unpopular interests include bugs (Yes, spiders, caterpillars, millipedes, cockroaches and all other creepy crawlies!), bats, and most things red. I won't harp too much on myself in this first post but will leave them to subsequent ones.

Lest I sound like a phantom, here's a photo with me inside. Do you know which is me?

Coincidentally, March 29, today, is also Earth Hour. On March 31 2007, for one hour, Sydney made a powerful statement about the greatest contributor to global warming – coal-fired electricity – by turning off its lights. Over 2.2 million Sydney residents and over 2,100 businesses switched off, leading to a 10.2% energy reduction across the city. What began as one city taking a stand against global warming caught the attention of the world. In 2008 today, 24 global cities will participate in Earth Hour at 8pm. Earth Hour is the highlight of a major campaign to encourage businesses, communities and individuals to take the simple steps needed to cut their emissions on an ongoing basis. It is about simple changes that will collectively make a difference – from businesses turning off their lights when their offices are empty, to households turning off appliances rather than leaving them on standby. To add your name to the green movement, pls go to http://www.earthhour.org/ A Stargazing @ Chinese Gardens activity will also be held today from 7.30pm -11.00pm (meet at the field next to Chinese Gardens MRT). To sign up, just contact Hannah @ 96202824 or Weixiong @ 98265276. Who knows, we may just meet tonight. =)

Cheerios,
Pei Ling=)

Let's get it rolling...

Yoz NYPians and blog readers, as ming has mentioned earlier, I am one of the newest writers of We Are NYP blog. Basically, I am here to share with you my experiences as a student in NYP and my feelings towards this school.

Before I start on anything, I'll tell you more about myself. I am Benjamin from soon-to-be graduating batch of 2008 from Diploma In IT. I'm also in swim, water polo team and watersports club. So for those who likes watersports or interested to know more about it, can always look for me. Since this is first post, we'll take it easy then.

Like any of you out there, I was once a freshies who knows nothing about poly life and what it has to offer. Time flies, and now I'm looking back to the precious moments I had in NYP, with my friends and lecturers. Of course, I had my piece of fun, laughter, joy that I shared with my friends throughout the 3 years. Maybe I shall reveal my first-time in NYP.

Photo taken during my 1st year orientation with some of my classmates. That's me in the bottom-left hand corner.

This photo really brings back memories, my first-step into life in NYP. Like any orientation, you will get to know the person first and then start into some activities like games. What is so special about poly that differs from secondary school is we only had half of the populations. The deepest impression I had for orientation was wearing the same coloured tops for that day. It really make us look more like a class, since we won't be wearing uniforms. Isn't it impressive to have 20 people walking around the school with the same coloured tops? I'm sure that would attract lots of staring eyes from nowhere. That shall also explain why I was wearing the same black shirt as the other 2 of my classmates. Lolz.

So if you want to know more about my life in NYP, do stay tuned to our blog. Until then...

Signing off...
Benjamin

Let's Start Blogging Again!

Hey there, everyone...

Let’s start blogging again:-) We started out this blog last year for NYP students to blog about how they feel about graduation. That group of bloggers have since graduated from NYP already, and have started further studies, work and NS. Thank you, Angela, Rosie, Fadzuli, Jasmine, Michelle, Weiluo, Natasha and Ibnu! You guys were awesome!

We now have a new group of NYP students who have gamely agreed to continue this blog and are all set to get going. And we want to expand this blog, so that it will cover happenings beyond graduation. So what exactly is this blog about? Well, it will basically cover NYP-related topics - like campus events, classmates, attachments, projects, lectures, homework, sports, CCAs, and so on….in other words, stuff that matters most to YOU, dear NYP student.

So do look out for our NYP writers and their postings soon. Happy reading!

cheers
Ming
