meet my ________

heyyy.

I'm back with a p i ctur e post. woohoo and lets hope these doesnt spam ur window big time.

meet my class - ms0402 w lecturers

ahh, look at those pearly whites. sayyyyy kodak-o!
Spot me if you can. WAIT. you don't even know how I look like . HAHA

Its really funny when I think back to the first few weeks of school. The entire class literally flocked around together for lunch and even in between breaks. It was a huge clique of 29.

As we were all new to coming to school in casual wear in year one, some of my classmates decided to come up with a T-shirt Day concept. Basically, it means that the whole class has to dress the same on that day.

Be it hot pink. Be it soccer jerseys.

BOTH genders have to comply. hahah, and to think, I actually took time to ransack my whole wardrobe on T-Shirt Days back in 2003.

Not surprisingly, as time went by, people with similar interests naturally stuck together and the clique of 29 split into various tiny ones.

But, hey, having this one last class picture together made my final week in school even sweeter.

And
here are
some of my
buddies from

class.

Meet Tim - my workout buddy or better known as Mr-I-Love-Flexing.

Zul and Nisa - the people to go to for nonsensical fun.

and then, there's my fav fabulouso trio - Amanda, Janell and CW.
we've bonded over a shared love for all things raisins (inside joke) and papayas (inside joke again).

hahahh hah

Now that you've met them, time for me to say my gdnights.

(and before i really go,

Dear CW, I had a hard time looking for decent pictures w/out contorted faces. This was the best I could find. So please spare my life when I see you on graduation. THANKS.

To Tim, admit it, you love flexing those 'bicepsss')

SCS Great Singapore Duck Race 2007

Hi everyone out there... SCS Great Singapore Duck Race 2007 will be held on 9th Sept 2007 at the Singapore River. It is a mega fun and quirky charity event to celebrate SCS 40th anniversary. Just more information about it... We are all encouraged to adopt a duck at S$10 and thereby, we will receive an Adoption Certificate with a serial number upon payment. The number on the Adoption Certificate corresponds to the number on one of the racing ducks. If your duck is among the 1st - 50th to cross the finishing line, you will win a prize. :)

Currently, I'm also working on the sale of these certificates and the cute little ducks as souvenirs. Just to tell you more about this cute little duckies, you can actually buy a limited edition souvenir duck at S$5 when you adopt a racing duck (S$10). Yup, so that's a total of S$15 only. What's more...these cute little duckies come in 5 different beak colours - Red, Blue, Green, Pink and Purple. Very adorable...Once you adopt 5 racing ducks, you are already entitled to have the entire collection of the 5 little duckies of different beak colours to swim with you in your bath tub.

I would like to thank all the NYP staff and fellow students who have adopted the duck and supported in this event. (",) For those of you who are interested in adopting the ducks for charity, you can contact me at popi_sim@yahoo.com.sg. :)

For more information about this SCS Great Singapore Duck Race 2007 event, you may like to visit this website at: http://www.scs.org.sg/scsduckrace/about.php.

Life after/in NYP

7 days more and is the day of my graduation (^@^). Haha! Think my excitement will grow as the graduation is approaching, even though I am in school all the time.

I am now working as a Development Technologist in NYP. It is a one year contract and I will be re-applying university next year, although I got in this year (>.<).

There are differences between working and studying in NYP. First of all, staffs get to wear the blue lanyard, they can sit at the staff corner during lunch, access the staff center, etc. (I’m like saying the obvious rite? Haha … Sorry)

Staff center is fun because there are quite a number of things inside. I like going to the gym (wanna keep fit and slim down =P). My friends and I plan to go to the gym 3 times per week. We also play billiard occasionally at the staff center. There is a swimming pool there as well, but I don’t know how to swim … haha. That’s all I have explored in the staff center, but I’m sure there is other stuffs. Will try to “investigate” next time (0.O) … See ya.

Fadzuli says, "Hello World."

Hi, I am Fadzuli!

I have finally emerged from lurk-mode to write my first post here. So on to the required self introduction. I did my first year in the School of Information Technology before bridging over and graduating from the School of Interactive and Digital Media (SIDM) with a Diploma in Digital Entertainment Technology (DET). Right now I am doing a short contract stint with ST Electronics while I await for the start of the semester in August at Carnegie Mellon University's Entertainment Technology Center at Pittsburgh.

I am actually not new to blogging. One of my modules in DET required us to create a blog and write our experiences in it. You can read my personal posts as well as my posts on my game programming endeavors at www.quantumentangle.wordpress.com.

My laptop crashed over the weekend. I bought it at SITEX in my first year in NYP. Since then, it has been my faithful companion throughout my education in NYP. At the time I bought this Asus M2, it was one of the cheaper laptops that included a dedicated graphics card. Although my intention was to play games on my laptop. It turned out to be a useful buy for my time in DET for a good 3D graphics support is needed to create the OpenGL and DirectX applications we were creating.

Recently as I start to take part in more complex applications, my laptops venerable processor and graphics card has started to show its age. So it is when my laptop crashed this Saturday and I retire it from active duty as my main development machine that I am fully hit by the nostalgia of my time spent in NYP and by the idea that I am graduating soon.

Welcome to OUR lives!

Hi all! =) Welcome to OUR blog! All of us at "we are NYP" look forward to sharing our poly lives with you, so hop on and take this journey with us as Graduation Day draws near! ^.^

I'm Natasha from School of Chemical and Life Sciences (SCL), and I have graduated with a Diploma in Molecular Biotechnology. I'm currently working part time as an Administrative Assistant while waiting for Uni to start in August.

The ONE thing from poly that has been an integral part of my life, and will always stay with me even as I graduate, is my class, MB0401. My class is great! =) We must be one of the most united and happening classes around! :) I love the unity of my class because though we have our own cliques in the class, we are united as a whole. We do group work mostly in our cliques, but you should see the turnout at class gatherings, BBQs and chalets! Almost the whole class turns up! Now that's unity! ^.^

I shall tell you guys more in future posts, and include pictures too! :) Ciaoz for now!

Best regards,
Natasha Lai

Ibby says Harlow!

Hey peeps!

The dummies guide to the brief history of Ibnu Firdaus...=p

"Ibnu Firdaus was conferred with a Diploma in Nursing on 18 May 2007. Currently, he is awaiting National Service Enlistment on 15 September 2007 (he had just received the 'Blue Letter' invitation from the CMPB on 13 June 2007). He prays hard and is hopeful that he gets posted to a unit which is much related to his nursing line (well...that would be definitely zoomed down to being a Medic Personnel!).

Meanwhile, he is working or 'seeking refuge' as a long-term Relief Teacher in a Primary School in the North Zone, as a form of employment to spend his time wisely, effectively and efficiently. Well, definitely not forgetting the fact that Ibnu wants to earn his keep and save as much as he can, before serving the nation and donning with pride in an all-green, nice, smart, manly, macho uniform! Hah!

Ibnu Firdaus will be heading to Tan Tock Seng Hospital to serve his three-year bond after his National Service. If given an opportunity, he would very much look forward to work in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) setting, due to its' "challenging yet full of learning experiences" environment."

Alright, let's get something serious for now! Heee!

As a freshie graduate of the Diploma in Nursing course from the Class of 2007, it really indeed is an honour for me to be representing the School of Health Sciences to share with everyone, my wonderful and great memories in NYP that will always be embedded in my mind, both personal experiences and my 3 year stint of academic life in NYP.

What I am going to post here, will definitely reflect a ‘typical’ life of not only a Diploma in Nursing student, but somehow or rather, I will also include and/or relate to the other Diploma courses offered in the School of Health Sciences.

So peeps, check this blog out soon and as frequent as you can, to find out and slowly unravel the journey of a Diploma student from the School of Health Sciences.

Laters! =)

My Overseas Placement Programme (OPP)

Last Saturday, I was at airport to welcome my elder sister back from her further studies at UK, only then I felt that time flies... She had been there for 9 months since last September and now she was returning back to Singapore. Anyway... overseas trips remind me of the overseas exposures I had gained during my Poly days, for my NYAA expedition to Gunung Tahan, Poly Forum 2005 to Johor Bahru, Overseas Placement Programme (OPP) to Chengdu and Overseas Community Service Project to Cambodia.

I would particularly like to share with you all the longest time I spent overseas. I was in Chengdu for my Overseas Placement Programme (OPP) for 3.5 months from 25th Oct 06 - 7th Feb 07. It was my attachment for my final Poly semester. I truly had a great time at Chengdu. I was there with 11 others, from both DIT and DBI. :) We were working at SCS Chengdu Technology Company at Tianfu Software Park. The climate was cool, sometimes freezing cold though, as we were there during the autumn and winter seasons. We had so much fun there! ;)

Our daily work routine on weekdays involved preparation for work, travelling to work on the local public buses, working at SCS Chengdu office, travelling back to our neighbourhood area for dinner and then back to our apartment for leisure and sometimes house-cleaning/laundry. Haha...

Work wise was still manageable, however when deadlines drew near, our project schedules became more tight and hectic. As we were separated into different project teams, we were usually working on the main allocated projects with our team mates. Besides that, we also assisted the locals in organising events, their daily work and some debugging assignments. It was a great learning point for us. In fact, I gradually picked up the Sichuan dialect through our interaction with the locals.

My overseas attachment involved lots of leisure moments. We went on package tours to Emei Shan and Leshan, and then to Xi Ling Snow Mountain. They brought back fond memories. I particularly enjoyed the time at the snow mountain, having fun with the entertainment and skiing over there.

I felt that I had acquired a lot from my Overseas Placement Programme. It was such an enriching attachment as we got to be exposed to China culture and lifestyle. I also learnt to be more independent in whatever I do as over there, all 12 of us really had to fend for ourselves. We had to manage our finance, time and health without Daddy or Mummy or Teacher to guide us here and there. Heex... Yup, so great time spent over at Chengdu...but before we enjoyed enough, we had to bid farewell to China and we arrived in Singapore on the night of 7th Feb 07.

im W E I L U O :)

We shared a moment that will last 'till the end

Went back to School on Wednesday to pick up my graduation gown ... Tried the gown on and suddenly realized that time flies, 3 years of my life in NYP is going to end officially... Although I am leaving, NYP will always be my 'Home' in Singapore, I've got so many friends and families here, going to miss them :)

lol they were saying technically we should not call it a gown because gown is refer to University Graduation Attire, but who cares, we are using it for our graduation anyway :)

Hear from friends who graduated from Overseas Universities that they did some of crazy stuff on their graduation ceremony... not going to provide any ideas to anybody here so if any of you guys only wears underwear under your gown to attend the graduation ceremony, it's definitely not my idea and 100% has nothing to do with me ....

Looking forward to the graduation day!
lol.. hopefully we can get a chance to do some crazy stuff also!! The whole idea for the Graduation Ceremony is to celebrate our graduation from NYP, so make it a unforgettable event and remember to feel proud of yourself!

I will see you all there!

Yo!! I'm Jasmine, graduation is coming soon (><)

A big “hello” to everyone who is reading this blog. My name is Jasmine and I’m from the course of Multimedia & Infocomm Technology. Spending 3 years in NYP for my diploma is a fun and challenging journey for me. 0______0

Why fun?? (><) Haha!! I remember for some of my modules, there are lecturers that are very humorous. That makes the lesson really enjoyable. Also remember those days, when me & my group of friends were eating together, laughing together and going home together. Haha, that was FUN =). As for challenging (o.0), I will not forget what I did for my final year project and my third year JSP project. These 2 projects really stress me out. My final year project is an industrial project (-_-) and my JSP project is a difficult one. Haha, but all these are already OVER. I will be graduating this year. ^^

Most of my friends will be going for the graduation and of cuz I will also be going. I will not miss out such an important event (><). Yeah!! I can get to see my friends again =). I want to take many many photos with all of you =P.

So have you all order the graduation gowns?? Haha, I had already ordered and the gown is now hanging inside my cabinet. Remember to wear smartly on the day of your graduation =).

Think I should stop now ... Haha, will try to blog whenever I am free.

Rosie here! Graduation is Coming! : )

Yohoo... I've successfully graduated from NYP. (",) Hi everyone out there, I'm Rosie Sim from the Diploma in Business Informatics and I'm glad I've chosen to embark on the Polytechnic route right after my O-levels. My years spent in NYP have been most enriching and fulfilling, yup...so no regrets at all. :)

On the morning of 4th July 07, the Diploma in Information Technology and Diploma in Business Informatics class of 2007 will gather at the NYP auditorium for our graduation ceremony. I'll be attending it of course, as it is one of the most significant events in my life. I'm looking forward to meet up with all my friends and lecturers I've once interacted with throughout our Poly days and will definitely take many photos together with them.

Anyway, Angela Li Jiao and I met up at NYP today to collect our graduation gowns. The gowns looked elegant on us. Hahaha ~ =P I can't wait to see all of us donning the graduation suit during our respective gradution ceremonies. :) Yup, for those of you who are attending your graduation ceremonies, you can simply fill up the graduation gown order form at the gown collection centre at Blk E level 3 if you've yet to order your gown online. The entire process is rather fast. It's just: Filling up of particulars in order form --> Trying out the gown --> Making payment at counter --> Collecting gown. Yeah, as basic as that. Within 5 minutes, everything should be done...unless there's a queue? Haha!

Alright, that's all for now... My team bloggers and I will be blogging regularly at this site to share with you all our joyful moments spent over in NYP, our current lifestyles, graduation preparations, our plans for the near future, and any other aspects. :)

Thank you very much for viewing and contributing your thoughts in this blog. We hope you have a pleasant time reading our entries. =)
